He Bought His Niece Fancy Birthday Gifts But Is Refusing To Buy His Nephews School Supplies
This man’s sister, Jennifer, is apparently a pretty terrible person. Jennifer first got married to her now ex, Wayne, and had a daughter named Andrea.
But then, Jennifer divorced Wayne to get married to her current husband, Lance.
“Lance is also an awful person and said that he did not want to raise Andrea since he only cared about having biological children,” he recalled.
In turn, Jennifer actually gave up full custody of her daughter in order to marry Lance. So, no one in her family has spoken to Jennifer since.
Andrea was just three years old when Jennifer gave her up, and Wayne was forced to be a single father for a while.
Wayne has remarried since then, though, to a woman named Emily. So now, Wayne and Emily are raising Andrea, who just started fifth grade, together.
“Andrea knows that Emily is not her biological mother, but my niece says Emily is her real mom anyway and does not care who her birth mom is,” he explained.
“We also have a great child therapist ready if Andrea ever needs her, but Andrea says she has not needed it yet.”
Anyway, Andrea’s birthday was just two weeks ago, so he brought her to Build-A-Bear. He got his niece a special bear with a ton of accessories, as well as a Mickey Mouse waffle maker.

Andrea was over the moon with the experience and was smiling from ear to ear the entire day. Wayne and Emily also shared some images of Andrea eating the Mickey Mouse waffles on their family website.
But, things took a weird turn after Jennifer somehow saw the images, even though the website is password protected.
Jennifer sent him a message basically explaining how his nephews, Colton and Ryder, would be starting school soon. Moreover, Jennifer detailed how she and Lance have been struggling with finances and can not afford school supplies.
In turn, Jennifer said that since he was able to buy “fancy gifts” for Andrea, he could “surely spare” one hundred dollars to pay for both Colton and Ryder’s school supplies.
He was extremely angry that Jennifer even tried to contact him, though, and told Jennifer he would not be sending a dime.
“She abandoned Andrea for some guy. She doesn’t get to come back to the family she abandoned now that she needs a favor. And besides, she and Lance are grown-ups, and if they can’t afford things, then it’s not my problem,” he said.
Since then, though, Jennifer has accused him of being an awful uncle. Plus, some of his friends have also claimed he should have been the bigger person.
They believe that his nephews are innocent, that it is unfair for them to go without school supplies because of a family feud, and that he should, at the very least, donate the school supplies directly.
That way, he does not have to go through Jennifer or Lance. Moreover, so he does not have to worry about the money being spent elsewhere.
Nonetheless, he has basically no relationship with Colton or Ryder and believes it is “ridiculous” for him to pay their schooling expenses while having no role in their life.
And he believes that if Jennifer and Lance seriously cannot afford the supplies, there are numerous programs out there that can help them.
Still, though, all of the opposing opinions from his friends have pushed him to wonder if refusing to buy his nephews’ school supplies was really the wrong thing to do.
Did Jennifer have a right to reach out in the first place? If you were in his shoes, would you buy Colton and Ryder the school supplies?
