TikToker Tara (@tara_neh808) is sharing a spooky story submitted by a follower. So, this woman started dating a guy with kids, but the longer they were together, the more she noticed that something was off with the entire family.
She met this guy named Jeff about five years ago. He was kind, funny, and family-oriented; pretty much the whole package. When they started dating, he told her that he had two kids, a five-year-old named Anna and a three-year-old named Todd.
Their mom was no longer in the picture, and his family lived across the country, so it was just him and the kids.
She didn’t meet Jeff’s kids until they had been dating for a year. His kids were super sweet and affectionate. Within just a few months of knowing her, they started referring to her as their mother. She loved them as if they were her own kids.
After she finally met them, every date night took place at Jeff’s house because he couldn’t find a babysitter he trusted. Soon enough, she was living there part of the time, playing with, and helping take care of the kids. But sometimes, there were these really strange moments.
For instance, the kids would sneak up behind her so quietly that she never heard them coming, which was weird because the floorboards in the house were old and creaky.
Other times, they would say odd things, like how they were afraid of the water at bath time. One time, they supposedly ran away from a man who tried to pull them into a dark place.
She asked Jeff about it, but he had no idea why they said those things. One afternoon, she was tanning at Jeff’s pool when she witnessed a horrible sight.
Todd was underwater, and he wasn’t breathing. His body floated motionless, just beneath the water’s surface. She immediately dove in to grab him, but nothing was there.
When she came up for air, she saw Todd standing at the edge of the pool, dry as a bone. She told herself that her imagination was just being overactive, but she continued having weird experiences. Sometimes, she would see Anna’s face underwater with her eyes wide open.
By then, she and Jeff had started talking about marriage. That’s when she decided to reach out to the kids’ mother to introduce herself and let her know that she could reconnect with the kids any time.
When she called the mom and explained who she was, the mom interrupted her and said that whoever Jeff dated wasn’t any of her business.
But when she mentioned Anna and Todd, the mom started screaming and demanded that she stop talking about her dead children.
Later that day, she confronted Jeff about it, and he exploded. He screamed about how his ex had abandoned him and the kids. His rage was so intense that she no longer felt safe around him.
So, she broke up with him and gathered her belongings. That night, as she prepared to leave, she saw Anna and Todd standing by the door.
They had been tucked into bed hours ago, but now, they were up and begging her not to go. Her heart broke, but she walked out anyway.
Months later, she ran into one of Jeff’s neighbors at the store. She informed the neighbor that she had Jeff had broken up, but she was sad about leaving the kids.
The neighbor gave her the strangest look and told her that Jeff’s children had drowned in his pool over 10 years ago. There was even a news article about the tragedy.
Shortly after that, she started seeing a psychiatrist. But she still needed answers, so she went to Jeff’s house one day and watched him. She saw him walk out to his car and wave at the second-story window where Anna’s room was.
It confirmed that Jeff somehow saw the kids, too. She believes that she was seeing the spirits of Anna and Todd. In the comments section, some skeptics brought up a few interesting points to try to poke holes in the story.
“Okay, but did they ever eat the dinners she made? Wouldn’t you notice an abundance of leftover food?” questioned one person.
“Maybe he kidnapped two kids of similar ages because he couldn’t get over the deaths?” suggested another.
“How did they play an interactive board game together? Collectively communicating with each other enough to play a game?” pointed out a third.
