This twenty-six-year-old guy has been dating his girlfriend, who is twenty-four, for almost a year now. And they could not have more different eating habits.

For instance, he has been a vegetarian for two years; meanwhile, his girlfriend is a very picky eater who does not like many things. But, the foods she finds the most disgusting are vegetables.

So, he never really brought up vegetarianism during conversation since it obviously would not appeal to his girlfriend. Well, that was until two days ago, when they decided to go out to eat at a fast food place together.

Apparently, the fast food joint is one of his girlfriend’s favorite spots.

“She eats a lot of her meals there because she likes almost all of the menu. She is more into sugary things and fast food,” he explained.

Anyway, while they were there, he was not going to eat meat– so he ordered a veggie burger with fries. His girlfriend, on the other hand, opted to treat herself to a twenty-piece chicken nugget meal.

And the lunch went off without a hitch for a while. But then, his girlfriend apparently started making fun of him for being a vegetarian out of nowhere.

First, she began laughing and randomly brought up how “weird” it would be to eat at this fast food join in the first place, being a vegetarian.

She also insinuated that he must hate the veggie burger and only ordered it since there was nothing else on the menu he could eat.

These comments understandably irritated him. However, he tried to take them with a grain of salt and just figured that his girlfriend was joking around.

Unfortunately, though, his girlfriend did not really take the hint and just kept making little comments about his meal the entire time they were there.

But, his last straw was when his girlfriend chuckled and said, “At least I don’t eat grass,” in a mocking tone.

So, after that, he decided to play along and told his girlfriend, “But at least I don’t eat shredded chicks.” And she was mortified.

Apparently, she had no clue how fast food chicken nuggets were made, and he went on to explain how chicken nuggets at fast food joints are usually just made from chicks that had been thrown into a shredder.

And at that moment, she stared at her food in shock and began choking on the spot. Then, she actually threw up all over the table in the fast food joint’s dining room.

Immediately, a bunch of staff members rushed over to them and tried to help his girlfriend. However, his girlfriend was already bawling and shamefully sinking into her chair.

“I also tried to de-escalate the situation and told her I didn’t mean it,” he recalled.

Nothing he said mattered, though, because his girlfriend was already storming out of the place.  So, he was forced to just apologize to the staff and follow his girlfriend outside.

By then, though, she was nowhere to be found, and he realized that his girlfriend had taken the car and left him stranded there.

For context, he and his girlfriend live in a pretty remote area where he inherited his grandmother’s house. Anyway, this meant that he had to call a taxi, wait for it to arrive, and then get a ride back to his place.

And upon arriving, he stood knocking on the front porch and waiting for his girlfriend to answer the door. She eventually did, but she refused to make eye contact and just stormed into the bedroom.

He obviously ran after her to talk, but then, he noticed that she had been in the middle of packing a bag. He was totally confused and asked where she was going, which caused his girlfriend to just burst into tears again and reveal that she was leaving.

His girlfriend also berated him for saying something like that after he “knew what it would do to her” and claimed that she needed some space.

So, his girlfriend ultimately left and has been staying at her mother’s house ever since. And now, he has absolutely no idea how to reconcile the situation and has been wondering if telling his girlfriend about how chicken nuggets are made was the wrong thing to do.

Do you think his girlfriend really was just joking, or was she trying to get under his skin? Did he have a right to make comments about her food, too, or did he stoop to her level? If you were in his shoes, how would you try to fix this situation?
