This Turkey Themed Appetizer Is Something Your Guests Will Surely Gobble Up This Thanksgiving

When preparing for the big Thanksgiving meal, sometimes we get too fixated on the main courses, and we forget about something just as important: the appetizers. The turkey may be the highlight of the meal, but it shouldn’t be the only thing your guests gobble up.

Shannon Doherty (@athomewithshannon) is a mom of four, and she’s got the cutest turkey-themed appetizer that any kid or adult will get a kick out of. All you need is a few minutes to spare to throw together this super easy and adorable app.

Time to try out the recipe!

Ingredients:

-2 packets of cream cheese

-2 cups of shredded cheese

-Onion powder

-Salt and pepper

-Carrots, shredded or chopped nuts

-Crackers

-Pretzel sticks and rods

-Candy corn

Directions:

In a large bowl, mix together the cream cheese, shredded cheese, sour cream, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt and pepper. To get the mixture to be of a really soft consistency, use a hand mixer for the best results.

After mixing, use saran wrap to wrap it into a ball and refrigerate it for about an hour. When it’s ready, coat the ball with shredded carrot or chopped nuts; it’s up to you.

Shannon used shredded carrots since her kids have a nut allergy. Place the ball in the middle of a decorative plate.

Next, surround it with some crackers.

Put several pretzel sticks near the edge of the ball to resemble a fan of turkey feathers. Then, stick one pretzel rod into the center of the ball. This will act as the turkey’s neck and head. Shannon used frosting to hold up the candy corn nose and eyes of the turkey.

Many TikTok users are in love with the idea. Shannon has revolutionized the meaning of appetizers for them.

“I’ve never thought of appetizers as cute!” professed one user.

“Adorable…and the paper plate cover. Brilliantly clever!!” exclaimed another.

“Love the substitution for nuts!! My daughter is allergic too!” wrote a third.
