According to her, her brother’s fiancée “went crazy” about how her lack of attendance would overshadow the entire day. She also got told that sometimes you just show up for family, even if you are not close to the family member, simply because “family is important.”
Then, her parents ended up hearing about what happened between her and her brother’s fiancée– and if you could not have guessed, they were not happy, either.
In turn, she actually ended up needing to leave her parent’s house altogether and has not stopped getting backlash from them.
“They told me he is my brother, and I should be at his wedding even if I’m not a bridesmaid,” she vented.
So now, with the holidays over and her brother’s wedding coming up, she has been left wondering if declining to be a bridesmaid and attend her brother’s wedding was the right thing to do or if it actually just makes her a jerk.
Why do you think her brother has always tried to ice her out of his life? Does it make sense why she would not want to “be there” for her brother after years of disconnect? Does she have a right not to attend the wedding? If you were in her shoes, what would you do?
