He Fed His Family Food That Had Been Thrown Out In The Garbage For Dinner One Night, Which Totally Grossed Out His Wife

And, a week ago, he arrived home to discover a package of lettuce, some potatoes, an entire cucumber, and a loaf of bread thrown in the trash.

He picked everything up and realized that the lettuce was past its expiration date but appeared to be edible anyway.

The bread was expired as well, but it also looked fine. And everything else wasn’t spoiled or rotten yet either, so he dug it all out of the trash and used it to make dinner that evening.

“I grilled chicken, which was the only item not from the trash,” he said. “I made a salad and added the cucumber, used the bread to make croutons. And finally, I made mashed potatoes.”

“We all sat down to eat, my wife mentioned how great the food was. I told her it was what she had thrown out earlier that day. She was completely mortified and grossed out.”

He then informed his wife that he had made sure to wash all of the things before he used them to make dinner, though that didn’t make her feel better at all.

He tried to get his wife to see his side; the food was fine for them to enjoy in their dinner that evening, so it should never have made it to the trash.

He then said if his wife had wanted to throw it out anyway, she should have asked their daughter to feed it to the chickens instead of dumping it and wasting it.

“She was irritated with me, fearing we all would have food poisoning or something,” he continued.

“But none of us got sick from the food. She said regardless, it was wrong for me to prove a point in that manner and borderline abuse to serve the family food from the trash.”

“I don’t really see what I did wrong; there are starving people in this world, and for us to throw out perfectly fine food just doesn’t sit right with me.”
