She insisted that he should keep doing what he thought he should, and although she loved having him in her life, she was ok with him going alone.
The only thing she asked him to be was truthful while keeping communication between them open.
“Toward the end of these few weeks, I wrote a letter for him to open on the road,” she said. “The letter essentially stated how grateful I was for our time together and how much he meant to me, no matter how it all ended.”
“I got him a little magnet with a photo of us from our trip that clipped into an airvent, so should he miss me — he’d still have me on the road with him until he was ready to connect again.”
“We set a “goodbye” date and agreed to talk again in 2 weeks and meet back up in a month. Goodbye date rolls around, and we are both incredibly emotional. Y’all, I couldn’t tell you why, but I knew this man was going to do this. My friends all said there was no way that my previous trauma was coming up. But somehow, I knew that when he walked out that door, I wouldn’t ever see him again.”
She sobbed, he sobbed, they kissed one another, they hugged, and she insisted the weeks would fly by as he promised to stay in touch.
But as she stared at him, his eyes said something different. She knew in her heart she would never hear from him after that day, and she was right.
In the weeks after he left, she attempted to reach out to him via text, but she was met with nothing but silence.
She also realized that he clearly had hit the mute button on following her through social media, and her heart shattered.
After 4 weeks of not hearing from him, she sent him a second text stating that she was hardly livid with him, but she just wanted an explanation.
Months later, she left him a voicemail to inform him that she found someone new, but his ghosting her was so upsetting, and she still would like to hear from him why he did this to her.
