Apparently, when Jessica had gone to confiscate the drawing pad, it became clear that it was not in the house.
At that point, Jessica also asked to arrange a time and place to receive the sketchbook. However, that was not a part of his or his daughter’s plan.
That’s why he wound up lying and claiming that he decided to keep the sketchbook at his home because he did not want the item to be confiscated again.
“I didn’t want to throw Claire under the bus here. In hindsight, lying probably wasn’t the best idea,” he said.
And if you could not have guessed, this only made his ex-wife very angry. In fact, Jessica accused him of being a jerk and claimed that she “had a right to her daughter’s mind.”
Still, he stuck to his story and told Jessica he was worried since he didn’t think the situation was properly handled the last time his ex-wife went through the sketchbook.
Regardless, Jessica would not let up and just restated her perspective. And at that point, he decided not to respond anymore.
So, it has now been two days since he last spoke to his ex-wife. And since reflecting on the situation, he’s been left wondering whether allowing his daughter to keep her sketchbook at his house after his ex-wife went through it without permission was the right thing to do or not.
Why do you think his ex-wife didn’t properly reprimand his daughter’s stepsiblings for trifling through her belongings? Was it fair for his ex-wife to confiscate his daughter’s sketchbook? Did he do the right thing by trying to protect his daughter’s privacy? How would you have handled this situation?
