But, according to him, they were not going to be eating at a “regular” Chinese restaurant. And to prove his point, he decided to pull up the restaurant’s Instagram account.
“To show her their feed to convince her that it is upscale,” he added.
However, his girlfriend did not even want to look at his phone. But he looked at a few different posts and stories on the restaurant’s social pages and saw how, in most of the images, the women were all a bit dressed up.
And he claimed that he just did not want his girlfriend to feel uncomfortable once they arrived at the restaurant– because, apparently, she is pretty self-conscious.
That’s why he decided to ask his girlfriend for a second time to dress more “appropriately” for their date night. But, after that, she just got pretty angry and actually said they wouldn’t be going to dinner anywhere that evening. Plus, ever since canceling their plans, his girlfriend also has not spoken to him.
“She usually likes to dress up, even when we go to a bar,” he vented. “This is leaving me confused.”
So now, ever since the canceled date night, he’s been left wondering whether asking his girlfriend to dress better for dinner made him a real jerk or not.
Do you think he offended his girlfriend by asking her to change her outfit? Do you think he had a right to ask, given the fact that the restaurant was upscale, or did that not matter? If you had been in his girlfriend’s shoes, how would you have reacted? How should he reconcile this situation?
