He Wants To Date But Isn’t Sure How To Get Started Since He Only Makes $200 A Month As A Junior Resident Doctor And Really Can’t Afford To Take A Girl Out

This 27-year-old guy is currently a junior resident doctor who only earns about $200 each month.
So, given his lack of income– and the fact that he has no extra time to work a side hustle– he feels like he doesn’t meet most women’s standards.
His internship is three years long, meaning that he will not complete it until he is 30. And as of right now, he doesn’t have enough money to buy a car, let alone take a woman out.
That’s why he is really at a loss about how to get into the dating pool while making such a low income. So, he recently turned to Reddit for advice on his current situation.
“Do I have the wrong mentality, or should I just forget about dating completely until I can afford to date?” he asked.
Now, some people pointed out how his hectic schedule is likely not even conducive to finding a partner.
“You’re probably too busy to even date right now. That’s the bigger issue,” said Incomefundmanager.
Other commenters also encouraged him to stay motivated toward his career goals while also keeping his eyes peeled for potential partners in his same situation.
“Bro, you’re studying to be a doctor. Keep your eyes on the prize. And if you do date, date within your field,” explained Dmoney140.

“Common struggle and a perfect environment to vet the women around you. Experiencing relationship troubles in your field could really mess with your focus.”
Finally, a bunch of people also told him that he doesn’t need a ton of money in order to start dating new people. Instead, they pointed out how people living in his area would likely understand his situation.
“And the first step here is to not focus on your lack of funds, but instead think about free events that don’t require funds to participate,” added Perkylurkey.
“Parks, walks, free community events, whatever is free, you are there…be open and honest. If someone likes you, the doctor thing can help you if you are honest about your situation and you don’t apologize too much,” they continued.
“Be matter-of-fact and straightforward, but be self-confident! Go easy on yourself; you have future earnings. Just work with what you have now, and focus on building your personality.”
Some women offered their opinions, too, and agreed that money is not the most important thing when it comes to wooing a potential partner.
“You don’t really need money to date. I’ve had men treat me to some very lavish dates, complete with limo rides, dozens of roses, fine restaurants, and gifts. Those things didn’t impress me because anyone with money could do that, especially when they did all those things on a first date or when they barely knew me,” revealed Consciouselevator628.
“By far, my favorite dates were ones where we were getting to know each other while going on a stroll through the park, going on a picnic, going to free concerts or movies in the park, or when a guy would pick a single flower for me while we were strolling along,” they continued.
“Anyone who is only interested in dating you based on how much you will spend on the date isn’t someone worth your time. Try dating someone in your own field because they will understand your circumstances.”
Do you agree that dates don’t have to be expensive or elaborate in order to still be thoughtful and romantic? What other dating advice would you give him?
