Somehow, though, Dan was able to convince her again that he was really telling the truth. So, she decided to keep talking to him and wound up being told even more bizarre excuses and lies. First, when she wanted to finally spend the night with him, Dan claimed that he couldn’t– because apparently, he had only ever spent the night with his ex-wife.
Then, as they continued talking, she realized that Dan would always turn his phone off late in the afternoon on Friday and only turn it back on once it reached Sunday. Now, Dan claimed he did this for Shabbat– because he was Jewish and French.
More recently, though, she learned that Shabat actually ends on Saturday evenings. So, all of Dan’s claims have started to seem a bit suspicious to her, and she is not sure what to think.
On the one hand, she believes Dan genuinely seems sincere. Plus, she admitted to having real feelings for him– which he seems to reciprocate. But, on the other hand, she revealed how she is also starting to think that she might be “the other woman.”
“How do I tell if he is actually married and isn’t just lying to me?” she asked. “I really don’t want to be a home wrecker or even take any part in an affair.”
So now, she’s been left wondering what to really think about Dan and how to handle this situation.
Does it seem like Dan comes up with one lie after another? Or could he be telling the truth? If you were in her shoes, would you continue trusting him and going along with his stories? Or do you think she should get out of this relationship?
