Her Boyfriend Recently Had A Depressive Bipolar Episode, And It Terrified Her

This young woman is currently dogsitting for one of her friends, and her friend has a hot tub that she’s welcome to use while her friend is not home.
So, she and her boyfriend thought it would be fun to hang out and spend time together in the hot tub one night before heading over to his place for a sleepover.
Her boyfriend also happens to live just down the street from her friend with the hot tub.
“When I went to pick my boyfriend up, he had this zoned-out look and said he wasn’t feeling well,” she explained.
“I offered to just hang out with him at his place. He said that he wanted to go and that maybe he would start to feel better.”
The evening before, she and her boyfriend had gone to a bar, so she initially figured that he was perhaps not feeling great from having a few drinks on their night out.
As soon as she drove up to her friend’s house, she once again questioned her boyfriend about what he would like to do.
He said he really did not want to go back to his place and that they should stick to their previous plans.
They then went and got in the hot tub, and her boyfriend looked even more terrible than he had before.

She was scared at that point that she would have to somehow lift her boyfriend out of the hot tub all alone, but after she managed to get him out, she sat him down and helped him dry off.
She then asked her boyfriend when he had last eaten and when his symptoms started. She asked him a couple more medical-related questions, and she was starting to really get worried because he could hardly move.
Eventually, her boyfriend said to her that he was in the middle of a depressive episode.
“He has bipolar disorder, and he was very upfront with that before we started dating,” she said. “I got some stuff together and got him home. We just held each other and cried on the sofa.”
“Then I told him we were going to take a shower, change, and go to bed. I bathed him, and just little spoon held him as I sobbed into his back. I asked him that night what his favorite warm breakfast food was and brought the ingredients back with me after I went to my morning shift.”
“By the end of the next day, he was starting to seem back to himself. I haven’t told him much about my parent’s divorce. He doesn’t know that getting a dog saved my life. He doesn’t know that my mom had severe depression and I was her rock (as a young teenager). He thought my medical background prepared me for what to do. Actually, it was life experience.”
