This 20-year-old girl and her boyfriend, who is also 20, have been dating for almost four months. And according to her, their relationship has been pretty good so far.

She claimed that her boyfriend is extremely sweet, which all of her family members and friends agree with, too. Since their relationship is still pretty new, they are also still in the “honeymoon phase.”

While her boyfriend is sweet-natured, however, he does hate one 20-year-old guy named Max a lot.

Apparently, he has known Max since elementary school, and they were peers throughout high school. However, the two guys just could never get along.

“Even throughout college, they never interact despite sharing several mutual friends and both pursuing the same degree,” she explained.

Anyway, she found out about her boyfriend’s hatred of Max through some friends. So, she decided to ask about the tension, but her boyfriend only ever said that Max was just an awful person.

According to her friends, though, Max was a pretty terrible person back in the day. But he has since become a much nicer person.

And just a couple of days ago, one of her friends named Hannah even invited her to tag along to a house party that Max was hosting. It just so happened that several of her own friends were also attending the get-together.

Given her boyfriend’s opinion of Max, she was pretty reluctant to accept the invitation and knew that if she went, it might upset her boyfriend.

Nonetheless, her friends wound up successfully convincing her to go to the party despite her concerns.

When she arrived, she realized that there weren’t many other people at the party. But she still had a great time with her friends– dancing, playing a couple of games, and enjoying some drinks.

“I even got a chance to speak with Max and some of his friends. He was well-mannered and a little charming, and all my friends thought he was a great guy,” she revealed.

So, the next day, she decided to text her boyfriend to tell him all about how great the party was. She also mentioned how she got the opportunity to talk to Max.

If you could not have guessed, though, her boyfriend was not too happy about that. He pointed out how she knew about his feelings toward Max. Then, she got accused of breaching her boyfriend’s trust by going to the party anyway.

At that point, she got frustrated and claimed her boyfriend was just being childish and likely feeling a bit insecure. However, he just cut her off and claimed it was not her place to make those accusations.

That left her feeling pretty annoyed, and she even wound up telling her boyfriend that, at that moment, he was probably acting way worse than Max ever did.

This pushed her boyfriend to just hang up the phone. But still, their argument was far from over.

She proceeded to text her boyfriend after their fight and reiterate how he was acting childish. She even claimed that her boyfriend’s feelings were likely “based on something trivial anyways.”

After she said that, her boyfriend just claimed he did not want to talk to her about the situation anymore.

Then, she decided to confide in Hannah, who pointed out how she was being pretty insensitive and probably should not have mentioned going to Max’s party at all.

So now, ever since getting into this argument with her boyfriend, she’s been left wondering whether going against his wishes and attending Max’s party was the wrong thing to do.

Why do you think she went to the party knowing her boyfriend felt so strongly about Max? Was it fair for her to belittle her boyfriend’s feelings about the situation? Should she have been upfront and honest about her plans to attend instead of filling her boyfriend in afterward? How can she reconcile this situation?
