Even though he has his own personal room, he still wants to be able to use the much larger space that the basement offers. Since the conversation with his father hadn’t gone how he’d hoped, he tried talking about the issue with his mother.
However, she, too, told him that he was being unreasonable and unfair.
“She said while she does understand that I’m upset, this was the only tenable solution and that I had to be more accommodating,” he said.
His mother told him that, as of right now, Sarah needs the basement space more than he does. He wanted to discuss the topic even more, but he could tell by his mother’s facial expressions that it was best to just drop it altogether.
“I understand that Sarah’s in a tough spot, but I can’t help but feel that I’m being overlooked and ignored by my parents,” he stated.
Do you think he has the right to the space in the basement and should continue discussing it with his family? Or does he need to be more empathic toward Sarah’s situation and be more flexible? Should he have accepted the money that his father offered him?
