Not believing him, his mother decided to call up the aunt and ask her directly, and the aunt ended up confessing that she did give him money. His mother was angry with him and explained that she usually saves the money to give to their cousins, so she demanded $500 out of his next paycheck.
“I argued that before now, every single penny our relatives gave to my siblings and I had gone to her and that now that I am going to college, this money could really help me out,” he stated.
Still, his mother continued to make him feel guilty, called him names, and said hiding the money from her was irresponsible. And even though the relatives gifted the money to him and want him to keep it, he feels obligated to listen to his mother.
Do you think it was right of him to hide the money from her, or should he have given it to her as he usually did?
