Sometimes women get proposed to in a place and time where they genuinely weren’t expecting.

One woman feels terribly guilty for giving her boyfriend attitude after he proposed to her in a dirty parking lot.

She recently celebrated her 21st birthday. She’s a young mom and has a daughter with her boyfriend.

She spent her birthday with the two of them and a few other friends. They went bowling and had a lot of fun. Her boyfriend planned the entire day himself, and she was very happy.

Towards the end of the night, she asked her boyfriend if they could hit an arcade before heading home, and he told her no, that they couldn’t afford it.

This bummed her out, and she was in a bit of a sour mood as they started heading to the back of the bowling alley to get to their car.

While walking through the smelly, dirty space, her boyfriend told her their daughter had a surprise for her.

She thought he was joking around and insinuated that the “surprise” was a dirty diaper, and he expected her to change their daughter, as it was a joke they’d made a few times before.

She got sassy with him and told him it was his turn to change their daughter’s diaper, blowing him off.

But then, he told her no, their daughter had an actual present. She saw that her daughter was holding a little box, and a beautiful engagement ring was inside it.

Then, her boyfriend said he couldn’t get on one knee because he had a leg cramp and asked her to marry him.

She was so overwhelmed and confused that instead of immediately saying yes, she told him she couldn’t believe that after four years of being together, he chose to propose to her in a stinky corner outside a bowling alley and wouldn’t even kneel.

They both got in the car after she awkwardly turned him down and drove with their friend to get some fast food. Before getting out, she had a moment alone with him.

“I explained to him that I feel so guilty and that I love him more than anything, and the ring is beautiful, but it caught me by surprise,” she recalled.

“I had imagined that moment for so long and thought he could’ve at least waited until we were at a place that wasn’t literally a brick stairwell.”

Her boyfriend said he figured it wouldn’t matter where or how he proposed. She began feeling even more guilty and asked if he could try asking her again.

When they stepped out of the car, there happened to be a beautiful rainbow in the sky, so he got down on one knee and proposed to her again.

She said yes right away, and it was a lovely moment. They celebrated her birthday and their engagement for the rest of the night in bliss.

While her boyfriend claims he has since moved on from the bowling alley proposal fiasco, she still feels terrible about what she said that night.

The guilt is eating her up, and she doesn’t know if she’ll ever be able to make it up to him. Although they still got engaged that day, she wonders if she ruined the proposal for her fiancé.

“He says it’s fine; he just wants me to be happy to be engaged,” she said.

“I am, but the guilt is eating me up. I know I hurt him. I don’t want to hurt him. I love him so much.”

Should she feel like she has to make things up to her boyfriend or try to move on?
