She Kicked Her Friend Out of Their Apartment After She Started Demanding That She Pay Rent Too, Even Though Her Parents Own The Place

This 22-year-old girl and her 21-year-old friend named D live together in an apartment that her parents own.
She and D are both attending college right now, and they split the utility bills 50/50. On top of that, D pays her around $300 for rent.
Well, D’s parents are the ones paying for D’s rent, and it’s super cheap compared to any other apartment D could live in.
Her parents and D’s parents are friendly, so that’s why D is getting such a great deal on the rent for their apartment.
Their apartment has 2 separate bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and 1.5 bathrooms. It’s also located in a very nice area.
Now, she, of course, does not contribute anything to the rent, as her parents do own the place. She does have a job, and she uses her money to purchase groceries and other things that she needs.
D really doesn’t pay for anything on her own at all since her parents foot the bill for everything in her life.
For longer than a year, D has been inviting one of her friends from college named A, to come study at their apartment, and occasionally A sleeps over too.
A does live off campus, but she lives in an awful area, along with her brother and her brother’s friend.
About a month ago, D wanted to know if A would be allowed to stay at their apartment for a whole week, and she had no issues with this as she was going to be on vacation for all of those days.

Nine days later, when she arrived back home, she was surprised to find A still living at their apartment, so she questioned D about when her friend would be leaving.
Her own friend was staying over that upcoming weekend, and that’s why she wanted to know when A would be going back to her place.
Well, D mentioned to her that A had gotten into an argument with her brother and did not feel comfortable going back to her home.
She was irritated by this, but A never bothered her, so she said A could stay until the end of the week.
Unfortunately, D and A did not respect her wishes, and A kept staying 3 weeks past when she wanted her to leave.
Then, their utility bill came in, and it was double what it normally is when it’s just her and D living in the apartment.
“I sat down D, gave her a run-down of the bills, and she seemed surprised,” she explained. “She said to me, “I’m not paying that much.” I looked at her and made a joke, “Yeah, you’re not, your dad is.”
“D got angry and went into her room. I thought the joke didn’t land well, so I knocked on her door to apologize, but I overheard D ranting about how I don’t even pay for anything, so I wouldn’t understand why her parents are mad.”
She walked right into D’s bedroom and informed A she needed to leave. A seemed humiliated, but less than half an hour later, A finally went home after severely overstaying her welcome to the tune of an entire month.
When A had left, she questioned D about what she had meant by her earlier comments, and D stated that since their utility bills were double, her dad has been flipping out over why he had to pay so much money.
She then accused her own guest of being the reason why the bills were so high, but she called D a hypocrite, as A had stayed a whole month at their house, and that was the real reason for the bills being insane.
“She told me I’m heartless for blaming A, who was having a hard time, for the increased bills, and screamed I should contribute MORE to them,” she said.
“Then, she called her dad in the bathroom and demanded that I pay rent too because it’s unfair. I told her she’s insane if she thinks I’ll pay rent in my own apartment and that she has until the start of the semester to find another place and move out.
“D started crying and throwing some towels on the ground. She did move out a few days ago. We haven’t spoken since, but A texted me apologizing for burdening me.”
When her parents found out that she kicked D out, they said that was not a choice she was allowed to make on her own, though they are on her side.
She’s left wondering if it was mean of her to make D move out, and she’s also not sure if she handled things the right way with kicking A out too.
