“Apparently not, since he confessed to my daughter at the picnic, and she said no again,” she revealed.
She was nearby when the interaction happened, too, and overheard the entire thing. So, she tried to swoop in to bail her daughter out, but the boy kept trying to convince her daughter to get to know him. That was when her daughter finally had enough and snapped at the boy, saying, “Leave me alone, you freak. I told you so many times.”
Not long afterward, she and her daughter left the school picnic. And ever since the afternoon went sideways, she’s been receiving numerous phone calls from other parents.
They claimed that she needed to punish her daughter and teach her daughter about tolerance. However, she swears that she has.
“Yes, I taught my daughter how to reject people nicely and firmly. But it’s not working for that kid,” she explained.
“This has been the fourth time that she has rejected him. She made it so clear on Valentine’s Day, and he won’t stop.”
That’s why she decided to defend her daughter against all of the other parents. Nonetheless, the boy’s mother still gave her a call and accused her of being a jerk after finding out that she didn’t plan to punish her daughter.
So now, since so many parents think she’s in the wrong, she’s been left wondering whether refusing to punish her daughter for rejecting the little boy really does make her a jerk.
How do you think her daughter felt in this situation? Do you think her daughter deserves to be punished or not? What would you do?
