Here Are The Three Easiest Ways To Remove Your Outdated Wallpaper To Give Your Walls A Fresh Look

Wallpaper is the kind of home decor choice that might seem like a good idea at the time but can quickly become old (and regretted).
Whether it’s starting to peel at the edges or you’re just ready for a change, getting rid of that wallpaper can also seem like a daunting task.
But before you break into a sweat, there are some simple ways to remove that pesky paper and give your walls a fresh start. Here are three of the simplest methods.
Steaming: A Burst Of Hot Air Can Work Wonders
For this method, the wallpaper steamer will be your best friend. And don’t worry: you can rent one from a home improvement store if you don’t already own this gadget.
Just be sure to read the instructions carefully before getting started since each model can be a bit different.
But, in general, you will want to begin by removing all furniture and covering your floors with a drop cloth. Don’t forget safety first, either– put on gloves and some goggles.
Next, use a wallpaper perforator to make tiny holes in the paper. This helps the steam penetrate the paper.
Afterward, you are ready to get steaming. Simply hold the steamer against the wallpaper, starting from the top and working your way down. Hold it in place until you see the wallpaper darken—about 20-30 seconds usually does the trick.

Then, use a wallpaper scraper to peel off the loose wallpaper. It should come off pretty easily, but if it doesn’t, all you have to do is repeat the steaming process.
Finally, once all the wallpaper is down, wash the walls with a sponge and warm water to remove any remaining adhesive.
Using Water And Vinegar
Good old H20 and some vinegar can be surprisingly effective, too, making this a cost-effective method using tools from just your pantry. It’s also eco-friendly, which is another plus.
To begin, start by clearing out your area and covering your flooring. Next, mix a solution of equal parts water and white vinegar in a spray bottle.
Once your solution is mixed, generously spray it onto the wallpaper and allow it to soak in for 15 to 20 minutes. Afterward, grab a wallpaper scraper and use it to gently remove the paper, working your way from the edges toward the center.
Lastly, just wipe down the walls with a sponge to get rid of any leftover adhesive.
Using Liquid Wall Stripper
If you are dealing with stubborn wallpaper or multiple layers, a liquid wall stripper might be the quickest option. Just make sure to work in a well-ventilated area and wear gloves and goggles.
First, you know the drill– clear out the room and cover any furniture and flooring. Then, using a sponge or brush, apply the liquid wall stripper to the wallpaper. And remember, always read the manufacturer’s instructions for best results.
Next, let it sit for the amount of time indicated on the package. Patience is key here.
Once you’ve waited the instructed amount of time, it’s time to bring out your trust wallpaper scraper again. And if the paper doesn’t come off easily, don’t fret– you might just need a second application of the stripper.
Last but not least, wash down your walls once you’re done scraping to remove any remaining chemicals and adhesive.
