Yesterday, this 32-year-old woman got to spend time with her family for the first time in 5 whole years.

She doesn’t live close to her family, which explains why she hasn’t been around them much lately.

She and her family all went out to eat at a restaurant to have lunch together and catch up. There were 20 people in attendance for lunch, including her 30-year-old cousin, his new girlfriend, and one of his friends.

Now, this cousin of hers was always quite sensitive, and when they were little, they would spend their summers at their grandma’s home together.

She and her cousin have always gotten along great, and being so close in age certainly helped them forge a bond.

“Everything was going well at the restaurant when all of a sudden, my cousin said out loud, “Have you guys noticed how huge (my name) nose is? I hadn’t noticed before. I don’t know how she doesn’t fall over by the weight of it,” she explained.

“Everyone stared at my nose in silence, including the people I had never met before. My cousin’s brother laughed. This situation took me by surprise, so I was petrified.”

One of her family members quickly changed the topic to something else, and she forgot about her cousin’s mean words.

But then, one of her aunts brought up that she was going to be getting into skincare, and her cousin once again brought the conversation back to her nose.

He remarked that at least his aunt doesn’t have a big nose like she does. She told her cousin off before adding that he was the ugliest one in their family.

She knows it was a childish comeback, but she was just attempting to get back at him for embarrassing her over her nose.

Her cousin’s brother, the one who had laughed before at her expense, told her cousin to stop talking and that it wasn’t necessary to keep offending her.

After lunch was over and they were all exiting the restaurant, her cousin said she really should go see a plastic surgeon to fix her nose. His brother playfully punched his arm as if to say to cut it out.

“I came home upset but thinking I would forget about it, but I couldn’t sleep last night, and I keep replaying the situation in my head. Everyone staring at me as he was mocking me,” she said.

“I had never had a problem with my nose. It has a noticeable bump from the side, but I don’t think it’s that big. But the truth is I feel hideous, and I’ve checked my face in the mirror more than I would like to admit.”

“But worse than the comment itself is the humiliation, of course. I don’t know if I’m blowing things out of proportion, but this didn’t feel like playful banter, and I feel like it’s going to stick with me for a while. I’ve thought of calling him, but nothing he can say will undo what he did.”
