She Went Out To Dinner With A Guy, And He Made Her Pay $2 For The Pizza She Ate

Have you ever looked forward to a delightful evening out at a cozy restaurant, where you expect to be enjoying a nice meal and witty banter with a cute guy, only to discover that he was the epitome of cheapness?
That’s exactly what happened to TikToker Maya Esteve (@solangesteve) one evening as she sat down to dinner with someone who turned out to be “the cheapest date in the world.”
When she was 18-years-old, one of the first guys she ever dated was super charming but extremely cheap.
She quickly found out that his frugality was not due to maintaining a tight budget or other money management purposes, though.
He was willing to spend thousands of dollars on stuff for himself, like his truck or dirt bike. But when it came to spending money on her, five dollars was a splurge to him.
One time, he took her out for a date night at a restaurant. He told her to order anything she wanted from the happy hour menu.
Everything else was off-limits. So, she decided to order a pizza. He then proceeded to tell her that he would not be ordering anything because he wanted to share her pizza.
When the bill arrived after their meal, he picked it up and announced that the total came out to four dollars.
To Maya’s surprise, he told her that since she had eaten half the pizza, she needed to pay two dollars. He even asked the server to split the bill in half.

Since he had offered to take her out, she had expected him to cover the bill. In the comments section, she added that he was also very selfish and didn’t even like spending money on his own family.
Some TikTok users commiserated together about their harrowing experiences of surviving bad dates with cheapskates.
“This guy I was dating invites me to the movies, gets the tickets, and Apple requests my part of the ticket and says it’s $17.40, but don’t worry about it,” shared one user.
“Someone invited me to try a new ‘wings place.’ We both ordered, and the cashier asked, ‘together or separately.’ He said separately. Me: I’ll pay. Him: thanks,” commented another.
“Ughhhh, my ex would make me pick him up because ‘gas is too expensive and my car is a v8,'” revealed a third.
@solangesteve I uploaded the videos out of order so I guess this actually counts as part 3 ? #IsThisAvailable #FitnessRoutine #fyp #ColorCustomizer #baddates
