She’s Furious That Her Boyfriend Decided To Buy A New Corvette He Didn’t Need Right Before They Were Supposed To Lease A New Apartment

Have you ever had someone spend a bunch of money at the wrong time? One woman recently got into an argument with her boyfriend because he bought an expensive car he didn’t need just before they were supposed to sign the lease on a new apartment.
She’s 28 and has been with her 31-year-old boyfriend for a little over two years. Since they’ve been together, they’ve been living in separate places with roommates, and they’re getting tired of it. So, they’ve been looking for an apartment to live in together.
It took them a long time to find the perfect place, as she has a dog and struggled to find a dog-friendly apartment.
However, she recently got in touch with a friend who’s looking for someone to sublet her apartment for eight months. She got approval from the landlord for them to move in with the dog. All they have to do is sign a lease.
Just after she and her boyfriend got their credit checks approved by her friend’s landlord, she found out her boyfriend purchased a second car for himself.
“He already has a ‘daily driver’ but wanted a ‘weekend car,’ which I personally find ridiculous,” she said.
“He has a Honda Accord that is fine, and he’s never complained about problems with it. But he recently said he bought another car. He isn’t the best with money. He really likes to spend [until] the last dollar, and [he] doesn’t have any savings.”
Although her boyfriend makes around $70,000 a year and pays around $1,100 a month for rent and utilities, she’s still had to loan him money, and he doesn’t put any of his money away for savings.
To make matters worse, the new Corvette her boyfriend bought will cost him $800 a month, and he has already asked her for help to cover his share of their new apartment’s security deposit.

Doubting her boyfriend’s financial stability, she decided to tell her friend that she would no longer be signing the lease to sublet her apartment. Because she hadn’t put down the apartment deposit, her friend was okay with it.
She decided she’d continue living where she was with her roommates, so she’s all set. However, her boyfriend’s landlord wanted him out, so her canceling the sublet situation ruined his plans, and he still needs to move.
Now, her boyfriend is angry with her and yelled at her, telling her what he chooses to buy with his money isn’t any of her business.
However, she feels it is her business, as because he went off and bought an expensive car, she knew she’d get stuck helping him with rent money again.
Was she wrong to cancel their apartment plans, or was it a good decision?
