This 35-year-old woman has been married to her husband, 38, for a decade, and they’ve been together for 13 years. She and her sister, 33, have always had a close bond, but that changed not too long ago. Her sister is married to a great guy named Danny.

Half a year ago, she and her husband were having problems in their marriage due to finances. She is a full-time nurse, and her husband was a laborer until he was laid off from. Throughout their entire relationship, she’s worked night shifts. They don’t have kids.

After the layoff, her husband was depressed, and she was supportive through this tough time, reminding him that this was temporary and that one day, he would have a new job. In the middle of November, he was offered a new position with an impressive salary, so their situation appeared to return to how things were before.

Unfortunately, their work schedules were completely opposite. Her husband worked during the day, and since she still worked night shifts, they weren’t able to spend much time together during the week. They were only able to hang out during the weekends, so it was a bit of a struggle.

Eventually, her husband began whining about their opposing schedules, and he ordered her to switch her shift. This wasn’t feasible because she has a lot of experience in the ER, and the hospital where she works needs a nurse with that amount of experience for the night shifts. Their hospital is incredibly busy at night in the ER.

After she explained to her husband that she couldn’t work during the day, she suggested that he switch his shift. However, he immediately rejected this, saying that he wanted to be able to spend his nights with his friends and play video games. Over time, they started constantly fighting about their work schedules and how little quality time they had together.

“I said, ‘Okay, fine. Then stop complaining that we hardly see each other. In one of our verbal fights, he said, ‘I feel like I’m single, and maybe I should just act like I am,'” she said.

Later, she called her sister to vent and sob. Her sister was the person she reached out to when she needed comfort and support, and vice versa. In hindsight, she realized that calling her sister to share details about the fight with her husband was a terrible idea.

A couple of weeks ago, her sister called her in tears and said that she had something important to confess. Before diving into the story, her sister told her, “‘Please don’t hate me.'”

“She proceeded to tell me that one night when I was at work, she came over to my house and drank with my husband. (Danny was also working nights.) In between sobs, she finally gets out that she and my husband were laughing, drinking, and playing cards when, all of a sudden, he kissed her,” she explained.

According to her sister, they made out for five minutes and didn’t take things any further. She was furious, cursed out her sister, and hung up the phone before marching upstairs to ask her husband about what happened.

“At first, he said she was lying for ‘attention,’ but I knew. Then, he said that they were both so drunk that he gave her a couple of ‘pecks.’ I couldn’t take his lying, so I told him to pack a bag and get out,” she shared.

Afterward, she reached out to a divorce lawyer, and right now, she’s filing paperwork for a legal separation from her husband. When her father and sister found out that she was divorcing her husband, they tried to convince her to reconsider her decision.

In their view, she should move on and forgive both her husband and her sister because they made a terrible choice due to how intoxicated they were.

Luckily, her mother agreed with her decision to leave the marriage, expressing her repulsion for what her husband and sister did. When Danny learned about her sister cheating on him, he decided to file for divorce, too.

Since she kicked her husband out of the house, he’s been calling and texting her, pleading for her to forgive him. He pleaded with her not to end their marriage “‘over a kiss.'”

What would you have done if you were in her shoes?
