“She had a tough go of things and has no real support other than her aunt, and I thought and believe that his intent was to offer her some kind of mentor figure basically. I still believe that’s what he intended at the time, but now I suspect things have changed.”
This dinner happened several months back, and she is aware that her husband has grabbed coffee with this girl, but he has not invited her back over to their home.
Also, her husband hasn’t said much about this girl at all, but he was so over the moon when she reentered his life.
Her husband could not quit talking about this girl, so she finds it weird that he’s suddenly stopped, and his behavior is coming across as strange to her, too.
He’s spending way more time with his phone, and he has gotten pretty quiet with her. He’s been listening to loads of music and pacing around the house.
He’s also acting off about what he’s doing with his free time when their children are in preschool and school during the day.
She knows he normally does some errands in those free hours or works out, but out of nowhere, he has shifted his routine to do all of those things late at night or early in the mornings.
“It could have easy reasonings, but in my bones, I feel like he’s having an affair with her,” she said.
“Part of me feels like a horrible person for even suspecting that because of how…gross it is, and I really can’t believe he would do it, but I can’t shake it. When she had dinner, she said how she used to have a huge crush on him, and he laughed at it and said he had been well aware of it.”
“And it was very innocent and sweet, but now that I think back, it seems like she was flirting. Also, she’s a really attractive girl and very his “type,” which I hate saying. And he remains very attractive and looks shockingly similar to how he did at 25, so it’s not like he’s aged badly and out of her fantasy.”
There’s a piece of her that cannot fathom her husband cheating on her since he has never given her a reason to doubt that he’s still in love with her.
