Unfortunately, Mary had a hard time understanding that and became angry. Mary wanted her to live with her for a month after the baby was born, but she had to refuse.
She told Mary she’d be too busy, and Mary told her their other friends would help if she couldn’t. Then, she had to give Mary a reality check.
“[I said] if she wants to have the baby, she should be ready to do everything on her own and to come to terms with being a single mother,” she recalled.
“She called me an ungrateful [jerk] and took off, then blocked my number. Now [I’m] feeling bad, and I’m [thinking] that maybe I’m selfish because she’s been a great friend.”
Is she selfish by refusing to help Mary care for her baby, or is she doing the right thing by refusing to do so?
