Her Best Friend’s Broke Boyfriend Gave Her An Expensive Birthday Present, And It Turns Out It’s A Family Heirloom He Stole From His Mom

Her best friend then asked her boyfriend to drop by a local bookshop on his way over and get a book they had wanted to get her for a gift.

However, her best friend’s boyfriend decided against this and simply grabbed a random object from his mom’s living room and threw it in a bag.

Her best friend’s boyfriend never asked his mom for permission, and he also had no clue that what he picked up was not only pretty, it was pretty valuable.

“This item had been passed down to his mother from her THREE-TIMES-GREAT-GRANDMOTHER,” she said.

“It had been in his family’s possession for literal centuries and was the ONLY tangible connection she (his mother) still had to her home country, which, incidentally, is also my mother’s homecountry – which he wasn’t aware of, meaning that what I thought was a thoughtful connection to my trip there was a total coincidence! He had no idea of the item’s cultural significance.”

“My friend immediately made him call his mum to fess up to the entire situation. His mother had been running herself ragged trying to figure out where this item disappeared to for DAYS. Obviously, she never suspected thievery and was blaming herself terribly for having lost something this important.”

Her best friend’s boyfriend tried to get her best friend to agree not to call his mom since he didn’t want to own up to the theft.

Earlier today, the mom of her best friend’s boyfriend arrived at her home to collect her family heirloom.

She apologized profusely to the poor woman for not growing suspicious of the gift sooner, which would have saved her a lot of heartache.

She wound up having a nice chat with this woman about the heritage they share, and she reassured her she took great care of her family heirloom while it was mistakenly in her possession.

They hugged goodbye, but not before this woman admitted to her that the value of the heirloom was far more than she had anticipated.
