He Ordered Pizza To His Friend’s Wedding Because There Wasn’t Enough Food, And It Caused A Huge Commotion

Have you ever been to a wedding where there wasn’t a lot of food available? Having enough food at a wedding is crucial, as drinks are often flowing, and people are burning calories on the dancefloor, so it’s important that they get replenished.
A man recently got into trouble at his friend’s wedding when he ordered some pizza from a local place near the venue because there wasn’t enough food left at the buffet.
He and his wife attended their friend’s wedding with around 70 guests, most of whom were family members.
They had a great time at the ceremony, and he watched proudly as his friend, the groom, enjoyed his time with his new wife.
During the reception, he sat at a dinner table with fellow guests, and they enjoyed some wine and bread.
He and his wife had also had a few cocktails from the open bar, so when it was time for dinner, they had a slight buzz going and were eager for some food.
The food was served buffet-style, so each table at the reception was called up individually. He noticed the food looked amazing and waited patiently as other tables were called up before his.
“The first few tables that were called were understandably the family of both sides, then the rest were [called],” he explained.
“The problem was that the [bride’s] family members are larger people. I don’t shame people for how much they eat, but I noticed the helpings of food they had while I was patiently waiting for us to be called.”

He noticed that not only did many of the bride’s family members take large portions of food back to their table, but many of them also went back up for seconds before all the tables were called. He initially brushed this off, assuming a lot of food was available.
However, once he and his wife’s table were finally called up, the buffet had barely anything left, and it was like a graveyard. He asked one of the staff members if more food would be put out, and they responded that they had already put out more food, and that was all that was left.
“We grabbed the little we could and went back to sit down and ate the scraps, but we were all still pretty hungry and a bit [angry],” he recalled.
“Someone mentioned they could go for some pizza, and then I had the drunken idea of ordering some. We all pitched in and ordered four large pizzas and some chicken wings from a local pizza joint close to the venue.”
Every person at his table pitched in for pizza, and he met the delivery guy outside, then brought all the food back to the table.
It didn’t take long for other guests, who also got cheated out of a meal, to ask where they got the pizza, which caused a bit of commotion. Confused guests began asking staff and wedding party members if pizza was available, and eventually, the situation caught the bride and groom’s attention.
The groom eventually confronted him, asking why he would order outside food and mentioning that the bride wasn’t happy.
He explained to his friend that his table was left hungry because there was hardly any food left at the buffet, but his friend was still angry, telling him he should’ve eaten the pizza outside before returning to the reception.
“I respectively explained to him that we were all drinking on an empty stomach and that it probably wasn’t the best idea to have drunk people walking around looking for food,” he added.
“I don’t think he liked that but went back to his bride, who was glaring at us.”
Things got more tense when one of the bride’s relatives, who he later found out was his friend’s new father-in-law, saw two slices of pizza left and asked if he could have one.
The father-in-law was one of the people who had cleared out the buffet, so he put the slices on his own plate, told him no, and said he already had plenty to eat, which was why he had to order pizza in the first place.
This altercation caused even more chaos, and he was later told to leave the venue, so he took a cab home with his wife.
After the wedding, he discussed the situation with his friend, the groom, who was frustrated with his in-laws for clearing out the buffet.
However, he said his wife felt her family was entitled to eat whatever they wanted, considering many of them chipped in to pay for the wedding.
While the wedding was still a lot of fun, the food situation certainly put a damper on the occasion.
Was he wrong to order and eat pizza at the reception, or should he have done something else?
