Most dog owners are used to their pets being loyal to them, but for TikToker Kristy (@defrancofarms), her dog’s heart belongs to someone else.
Her dog, Yogi, is completely obsessed with her neighbor, and their interactions are equal parts hilarious and sweet. It’s the kind of wholesome story that the internet is in desperate need of.
“My dog is stalking my neighbor,” Kristy said. “He is in love with this lady. I didn’t know her when we moved in, and we’ve been here a couple of years, and finally, I had to be like, ‘I’m sorry; my dog is stalking you.”
Now, they are good friends. The neighbor lives two doors down in the upstairs apartment, and Yogi will just sit and wait for the neighbor to come outside.
Once he sees her, he starts running around in excitement. He just won’t leave her alone and is constantly trying to get her attention.
Luckily, the neighbor found the situation just as funny and often plays into Yogi’s obsession. She watches him when Kristy is out of town and even has a nightly ritual with him.
“She does these things called his nightly affirmations, where before bed, before the sun goes down, she comes outside and tells him that he’s a good boy, that he’s a pretty boy,” explained Kristy. “And he sprints around the yard as she tells him how perfect he is.”
According to Kristy, Yogi is typically not a very friendly dog. Aside from her and her husband, he doesn’t get along with anybody. He does not like it when people come up to pet him or when people step onto his property. For some reason, their neighbor is the exception.
He might even love her more than his actual owners!

The story melted hearts across TikTok, and several dog owners shared their own stories of unlikely canine friendships in the comments section.
“I had a dog that didn’t like strangers. He fell in love with my neighbor. I didn’t realize he was poking through the bushes to wait for her. They were best buds until she passed at 103,” commented one.
“I’m with my neighbor’s elderly Golden now! We loved each other instantly, and she mentioned that she works so much that he’s always alone, so now I take him four to five days a week so he’s not lonely in his old age. It’s a win-win-win,” declared another.
“My DIL is not a dog person. I had a mini dachshund who was in love with her. Whenever she visited, he was glued to her and cried and cried the whole time. It was insane because he was never this way with any other person his whole life,” wrote a third.
