Just because you’ve reached adulthood doesn’t mean you have it all together. It all began when TikToker Hannah (@hannahosburn4) noticed a terrible stench drifting out of the primary closet in her townhome.
The smell was so potent that she instantly assumed there was a sewage leak. She notified her landlord and the maintenance crew, insisting that something was seriously wrong.
However, the maintenance crew wasn’t convinced. They suggested that the smell could be from her shoes, but her shoes had never smelled like decomposing bodies.
At this point, she was understandably offended and irritated that the issue wasn’t being taken seriously, so she made a big deal about it.
She was determined to get to the bottom of it, so she decided to go into her closet and move some items around. She ended up finding the source of the smell and had to call the office to tell them what it was.
Not a dead rodent or a burst pipe. Apparently, the foul odor was coming from a bag of rotting Thanksgiving leftovers that had since transformed into something like a science experiment gone wrong.
She thought the food had been put into the refrigerator, but it was somehow placed in the primary closet.
It was the most embarrassing moment of her life.
If the comments section proved anything, it’s that she’s definitely not alone in her accidental food-disposal crimes. Plenty of other people on TikTok have been through much of the same.

“My aunt has a spare bathroom, and she put a crockpot in the tub to make space while we were washing dishes. About two weeks later, she came across the crockpot and brought it right to the garbage, so you aren’t alone,” commented one TikTok user.
“I had a horrible smell coming from the cabinet above the sink. I searched and found leftover pork chops. I must’ve put them there while grabbing detergent for the dishwasher,” shared another.
“A coworker’s wife left ground beef to thaw in the microwave and forgot about it. Almost had a plumber rip off the cabinets to search for the smell,” chimed in someone else.
“My grandpa loved cherry cheesecake. Every holiday, my mom would make an extra one just for him. He hid it one Christmas, moved in summer, and yes, there was a mummified cheesecake in the closet. He had totally forgotten about it,” added a fourth.
“I left half of a ham in an ice chest at Thanksgiving. I found it in June when we were going to the lake. I duct taped it closed and threw the ham and chest away,” wrote another.
Overall, Hannah’s closet catastrophe just goes to show that the human brain is capable of wildly astounding things.
