During a late-night trip to her parents’ house in the Appalachian Mountains, TikToker Allie Cheyenne (@alliecheyswrld) heard someone whistling outside, even though there was no one else around for miles.

“I live in the Appalachian Mountains, and if you don’t know anything about Appalachia, inexplicable things happen here,” said Allie.

“Everywhere you move, some weird stuff is going to happen. Like, I just moved out of my creepy old 1800s used-to-be funeral home haunted house and moved back to my creepy old haunted family land.”

Her house is really close to her parents’ house, just a stone’s throw away. The other night, she left her parents’ house after they had already been asleep for hours.

She knew she was the only person awake in the area, but as soon as she took a few steps away from the house, she heard whistling.

She continued walking in the dark back to her house and pretended like she didn’t hear anything. Then, she heard another whistle, but it sounded different from the first.

The first one was almost as if someone was trying to whistle a song. The second was longer and more drawn out. It came from behind her.

She tried to convince herself that it was just her aunt or uncle because the sound came from their yard. They lived right beside her parents.

Later, Allie told her mom about the whistling. She seemed to think it was the same thing that had been messing with her and pretending to be Allie’s dad. She won’t be taking any more late-night trips to her parents’ house now.

Several TikTok users shared their own strange and scary stories about living in Appalachia in the comments section.

“When I lived in the Appalachian Mountains, I was like four or five years old. I remember I used to play with a little girl the same age as me. I thought for so long that was my cousin. But come to find out, she was a baby at that time. And when I talk about it now to my mom or sister, they [tell] me I never played with anyone that they saw. That sends chills down my spine still to this day!” wrote one user.

“I live in Appalachia in a 100-year-old cabin in the woods. I never go outside at night. I have heard whistling once,” commented another.

“I live in the Appalachian Mountains in East Tennessee. What part do you live in? Things happen all the time on our property, and now, it has started in our house. We live in the holler, and we have no lights. I have seen an old white-haired lady on the edge of the woods. We have no streetlights,” added a third.
