A couple of months ago, TikToker Erin (@erinandthingss) bought a house remotely through pictures and videos taken by their realtor. At the time, the house was being rented out, but it was empty. No one had been living in it for about six months.
So, Erin and her family moved in. Everything was great at first. But then, her 14-year-old son heard some random noises while he was home alone one night. The noises sounded like someone’s footsteps walking in the hallway.
Erin didn’t think much of it until she was home alone one day for the first time. She was organizing the main closet, which had access to the attic.
As she was going through the closet, she noticed that the attic door had been slightly slid open, leaving a gap of about six inches.
“It was really odd to me because I remember when we moved in, and we started putting boxes and stuff away, I noted where the attic access was in there, and it was closed, so it’s just something that kind of freaked me out,” said Erin.
She waited a few hours for her husband to come home and then asked him if he had gone up into the attic at all. He told her no and that he had just looked at the attic door the day before, and it was closed.
Erin doesn’t think that the wind could have been strong enough to slide the door open. Besides, they hadn’t experienced any stormy weather upon moving in. Her husband crawled into the attic to check it out, but he didn’t see anything alarming.
Erin considered the idea that someone could be squatting in the attic. There are two different attic spaces in their house. One of them required crawling through a small opening to enter and reach the pitched part of the roof.
Her husband couldn’t see the entire roof while he was up there, so they got their son to climb up and inspect the tighter nooks and crannies.

After that, more freaky stuff began to happen. One day, her husband was in the garage when he noticed the garage door was open, even though no one had opened it.
He closed it and went back into the garage a couple of hours later just to find the door ajar again. He closed the door and changed the setting so that you must manually lift the door to open it. They have kept it that way ever since.
Every once in a while, Erin also hears a jingling sound when she’s sitting on the couch in the living room. It sounds like a phone jingle and always seems to come from right beside her. She has no idea what it could be.
