When love and frosting mix, things can get messier than you expect. TikToker Ashley (@shelleyjayyy) owns a bakery, and she decided to make a red velvet cake for her boyfriend on Father’s Day. That cake ended up exposing the fact that her man was married.
Her bakery does not make red velvet cakes, so she baked her own cake, packed it up, and even added some extra cookies for his son. On every box, she always attaches her logo and business card sticker, and this time wasn’t any different.
She dropped the cake off at his workplace. He took the cake home and didn’t say anything about it, but she knew that it must’ve been delicious. Later, his birthday was fast approaching, and she was pondering what to do for it.
Then, she got a phone call from a woman who wanted to order a cake for her husband’s birthday. She began describing some of her husband’s interests and noted that his favorite flavor was red velvet. She also mentioned that she had eaten one of Ashley’s red velvet cakes before and was hoping to get another one.
Ashley was confused because her business did not sell red velvet cakes. When she asked how the woman had heard about the business, she explained that her husband had brought home a red velvet cake from Ashley’s bakery on Father’s Day and shared it with the family.
Ashley kept her cool and asked some strategic questions to get more information about this man before they hung up. The woman told her that they were going to have a small gathering at the house with just them and their three kids. So now, Ashley knew that he didn’t have just one son.
In the end, the woman wanted a six-inch red velvet cake, and Ashley agreed to make it, even though it wasn’t on the menu. The woman also gave out her address, so the cake could be delivered to the house.
Ashley was still partially in denial that this woman’s husband was her boyfriend, but they had the same name, and the address matched the one she always visited him at.
“I go on with the order, and I guess I’m making a red velvet cake for my man’s birthday, which also happens to be her husband, which also happens to be the dad of three,” Ashley said in disbelief.

The following week was his birthday, and she still hadn’t confronted him yet. She didn’t know whether to wait to confront him and show up at his house with the cake.
She was just devastated and shocked because he had paraded her around in front of his coworkers and introduced her to everyone, so she wasn’t expecting him to have this whole other life.
He tried to reach out to her, but she told him that she was sick because she couldn’t bear to face him yet. When she was finally ready, she told him that she knew he was married.
He didn’t even try to deny it. He claimed that he and his wife were separated or in the process of divorce. They have been separated for eight months and sleep in different rooms.
Divorced or not, Ashley was not okay with all the lies and deceit. She gave him 24 hours to come clean to his wife or else she would be the one to tell her.
“I have also decided not to make the cake,” she said. “I just don’t feel right making this cake or being any more involved in this, based on what me and him discussed.”
She texted the woman that she needed to cancel the order due to some unforeseen circumstances. She added that her husband should’ve told her why the order was canceled.
However, the woman seemed confused and asked Ashley to clarify. That’s how Ashley knew that he was never going to tell his wife about their affair. So, she spilled the secret during their phone call.
Overall, Ashley handled the situation with grace and respect. She walked away with her dignity and her bakery still intact, leaving her ex to clean up his own mess.
