While TikToker Blair Braverman (@blairbraverman) was dog sledding across the Alaskan wilderness, she thought she saw a demon emerge from the trees. She was completely alone with her 14 dogs, with no other humans in sight.
“We’re in a part of Alaska that is bigger than a lot of states, without a single human inhabitant,” Blair explained.
“There are these ghost towns from the Gold Rush, and wolves have moved into the houses. We’re going down this big slope, and there’s wind whistling across it, a couple of scraggly trees. The wind sounds like voices.”
The sun began to set as Blair and her sled dog team approached a small grove of trees. Suddenly, she saw a pitch-black, human-like, emaciated figure step out of the trees.
It stood with its arms down in the middle of the trail, watching them. She thought she might be hallucinating since she had been out in the wilderness for days and hadn’t been sleeping much.
“I’m just taking deep breaths, and I’m looking at it more,” Blair recalled.
“I keep thinking it’s going to morph into a tree, and it’ll turn out to have been a tree the whole time. But the more I stare, the more it looks exactly like what I thought it was.”
Just then, the dogs caught sight of the figure, too, and their hackles went up. She had never believed in demons or aliens before, but this seemed like proof that they were real and truly existed in the world.
They were running toward the figure and were about to encounter it when she spotted a red bag on the ground next to the creature.

She asked herself why a demon would have a red bag. It was not until she pulled up next to the figure that she realized it was actually a skinny man dressed in black spandex from head to toe. She stopped the sled in confusion.
Apparently, he was an ultramarathoner running across Alaska on the same trail as her. He thought it would be funny to stand in the trail and watch the dogs come up.
He was nice, and they chatted for a bit before Blair offered him a frozen cheesecake and went on her way. After that, she never saw him again.
Several TikTok users shared their thoughts about the mysterious male marathon runner in the comments section.
“I think the gap between a marathon runner running across Alaska and an inhuman demon creature is probably really small,” commented one user.
“There was a moment in this story where I thought I was about to find out that Santa and Slenderman were the same being,” added another.
“Impressed with how [quickly] you went from accepting demons are real to sharing a snack,” chimed in a third.
