About 10 years ago, TikToker Sarah (@stitchinaway) had the scariest experience of her life. At the time, she was working a retail job.

One evening, when she was leaving work, she walked out to the parking lot and saw a pink object hanging from the handle of her car door.

As she got closer, she realized that it was a sticky note. A friendly little message was written on the note with a smiley face. It read, “You’re special, and I hope you have an amazing day.”

The note made her smile, and she thought it was sweet. After that, she didn’t give it much thought. But for the next few days, every time she left work, she found a message attached to her car in the same spot.

“I know to a lot of people that would be a red flag and would be very creepy and weird,” said Sarah. “But at that time of my life, I was alone; I wasn’t married. I have to admit, I liked the attention.”

After receiving three or four of these friendly messages, she decided to write one back. She kept her message friendly and also a little flirty. Later, she got another message in response. The exchange went on for a few days.

On the shift before her day off, Sarah wrote a message saying, “Don’t miss me too much on my day off.” When she left work, she found a sticky note with a sad face drawn on it.

She thought the game would end here and fizzle out after her day off, but she could not have been more wrong.

The next day, she cleaned up the house and didn’t go outside until late morning. That’s when she saw a pink note on her car. She couldn’t believe her eyes. She scanned the area and approached her car slowly and carefully. The note read, “You look cute when you’re sleeping.”

Sarah thought for sure that someone at work was playing a prank on her. It was the only idea that made sense. She crumpled up the note and threw it away.

When she went back to work, the friendly notes continued for a few days. By the third day of Sarah not responding to them, the notes started to get really mean and threatening.

The next morning, Sarah left a note warning whoever it was to leave her alone, or else she would call the police. After work, she noticed her note was gone, and there was no other note waiting for her. She went home and had a relaxing evening, relieved that the whole thing was over.

But that night, something woke her up. She sat up in bed and listened closely. She heard what sounded like shuffling. So, she grabbed the baseball bat next to her bed and made her way out to the living room.

She turned on the lights and scanned the rooms. She didn’t see or hear anything, so she quickly returned to her bedroom, locked the door, and turned on the TV.

Eventually, she fell asleep. The next morning, she walked out to her kitchen and saw a pink sticky note on the refrigerator. It had a smiley face drawn on it and read, “You can’t keep away from me.”

She stared at the note for a moment and then checked every door and window in the house. Everything was locked up tightly. No one else had a key to her house, and her parents lived in a different state.

Finally, Sarah called the police and gave them all the information. The police told her that it must be someone who knew her, but other than that, they weren’t very helpful.

Sarah stayed at a friend’s house for a couple of nights because she was too afraid to sleep in her own place. They went to the hardware store together and bought new locks.

The first night back in her own home, Sarah’s friend stayed with her. Nothing happened. A month passed without any new notes. About two months later, she saw one of the pink notes on her car door again. She called the police, but they didn’t do much.

Sarah installed security cameras around her home, and thankfully, nothing ever happened again. She thinks that changing her locks might have saved her life.
