The problem was they were getting married in completely different states and he knew it would take him 13 hours to drive from one wedding to the next.
“I did the math and I calculated that if I left my stepdaughter’s wedding at 10pm and drove through the night, I’d make it with 2 hours to freshen up and get ready,” he wrote.
Well, he went with this plan, and he ended up getting lost somehow. Add that to his time spent sitting in traffic, and he missed his daughter’s whole ceremony.
He wasn’t there to walk her down the aisle even though she wanted him to be.
“I feel like I tried my best to make both my children happy but I failed one of them completely,” he complained.
“My stepdaughter and her husband have been attacked on Facebook by my daughter’s friends who are claiming that my stepdaughter planned it on purpose.”
To try to make things right in his mind, he gifted his daughter quite a bit of money to travel to Japan with her husband. Despite that, his daughter will not forgive him for not being there, and that’s pretty much all she can talk about when they do speak with one another.
He’s now left surprised by all of this, and can’t seem to understand why his daughter can’t get over what happened.
Can we just talk about the fact that this dad had to have known when each woman got engaged, and he could have done more to make sure they didn’t get married in the same weekend?
If he couldn’t have influenced them to pick completely different days to get married, maybe he could have tried harder to get there on time.
