Her boyfriend then said that he already had asked the bride-to-be (which yes, is this guy’s ex) if she was ok with him going and apparently she said yes.
The day of the wedding arrived, and her boyfriend was right there with her.
I have to say, I’m surprised she thought it was a good idea to bring the bride’s ex as her plus one knowing he cheated, but maybe she figured it was water under the bridge because it happened back in college.
“I should have known something was up because the bride made a face when she saw him, and she didn’t speak to either of us the whole night,” she recalled about the wedding.
She never gave that moment in time a second thought though, until recently when she went out to lunch with the bride.
The bride no longer lives in the same city that she does, and she was just there for a visit. During lunch, the bride asked if she was dating her boyfriend still, and she said she was.
The bride said to her, “I’m glad you’re happy, it was weird seeing him at my wedding because I didn’t know you were dating him, but you two looked so great together.”
Puzzled, she stated that her boyfriend had reached out to get approval to be her plus one. The bride stared at her and noted that he never even did that. He had lied.
When she got back home that day after lunch, she confronted her boyfriend about his lie, and he finally owned up to everything.
He went even further, revealing that the only reason he started dating her in the first place was so that he could go as her plus one to his ex’s wedding since he still had feelings for his ex.
Apparently, he is now over his ex, maintains that he has feelings for his current girlfriend only, and insists that his feelings grew for her as time progressed.
