She Told A 15-Year-Old Girl That Her Wedding Is More Important Than This Girl’s Birthday Party

A woman is getting married soon, and she recently asked her mother-in-law to go with her to shop for a wedding dress.
The gesture was meant to be “an olive branch” since she does not really get along with her mother-in-law at all.
Her mother-in-law agreed to go with her, and then she asked if it would be ok to bring along her boyfriend’s 15-year-old daughter named Emily since Emily adores fashion.
She thought that excuse was b.s. and figured her mother-in-law was only bringing Emily so that she would have a friend there, but she agreed nonetheless.
“Emily is ok but ridiculously spoiled,” she explained. “Her divorced parents are in competition for her love and both have some serious cash to throw around.”
“Emily is having a sweet 16 the same month I am having my wedding, and she has been talking about it non-stop, picking out the car she wants, making plans for the actual day.”
“Her birthday is a Wednesday, but the party is a Saturday, so she still expects something special on her birthday.”
“She will be going to Disney with her BF, her dad, and MIL. She has already let her mother know that since her birthday falls on his custody time, her mom can “make it up to her” so she is having 3 birthdays. I internally roll my eyes a little, but it isn’t my business.”
Aside from wedding dress shopping, she also planned for them to all get lunch together beforehand.

The day began alright, but she became worried when Emily asked her mother-in-law to have a sip of champagne at lunch.
She was concerned that they would get kicked out of the restaurant, but that didn’t happen.

But then when they went shopping for her wedding dress, Emily started also looking at dresses that she could wear for her birthday.
Emily came across a dress that she really did love, and her mother-in-law encouraged her to try it on.
She was really rubbed the wrong way by this since she felt the spotlight and attention should be on her as she shopped for her wedding dress.
Her mom was also there shopping with them, and her mom confronted her mother-in-law about it being “bad etiquette” for Emily to try on dresses.
Her mother-in-law was instantly shocked, and then Emily walked over to listen in on what they were talking about.
“Emily came out and heard the conversation and told MIL she didn’t do anything wrong and we were being “zillas,” she said.
“I nicely asked Emily to stay out of the adult conversation, and Emily told MIL that it isn’t even her fault her relationship with her son is strained because we are so nit picky and she was literally just trying on a dress.”
“I snapped at Emily that she has no idea what she is talking about and maybe when she is older she’ll have a clue, but a wedding is way way more important than some birthday party.”
She continued to tell Emily that she can have a birthday every single year, so her party is not special at all.
“Emily told me to chill and why can’t I share and all the dresses I tried on were “basic,” she revealed.
After that, her mother-in-law grabbed Emily, purchased the dress Emily wanted for her party, and they both left the boutique.
Now, her mother-in-law’s boyfriend is extremely mad at her and accused her of being a “drama queen.”
He’s also upset that she decided to pick a fight with his child, and he also pointed out that she was very mean to her mother-in-law.
