This Dog Named Franklin Was Diagnosed With Deadly Distemper And His Owner Fought Hard To Save Him

New Braunfels, Texas. Jason York was trying to save his best friend of life from distemper, and he is humbly asking the GoFundMe community for help.
Jason described how Franklin came into his life as one of his foster dogs when Jason also had a lot to figure out.
The two immediately clicked after Jason wrapped Franklin in a blanket and cuddled him during the first night. “That’s when he stole my heart,” Jason wrote.
“I had fostered so many dogs before, but this little guy was different. He has a quirky little personality that was just infectious,” he added.
“Anyone who has met Franklin knows how special his personality is and how he’s just the happiest dog they’ve ever seen.”
Franklin is known as the “show stopper” at his local dog parks, as anyone who sees him would know he is special.
He would also chew on blankets when he gets nervous, enjoys some ice cream occasionally, and loves to show off his favorite stuffed animals to Jason.
Jason had struggled with his mental health before he met Franklin. Franklin is, as Jason expressed, “the light in the dark” and “my smile on the days I felt broken.”

“He was the reason I kept going when I wanted to give up,” he continued.
As much as Franklin is unique to Jason, lives are full of ups and downs, and the two best friends sure have experienced a lot of difficulties.
Jason went from losing a job and entering a dark place in his life to receiving a new job and the help he needed for his mental health. On the other hand, Franklin also had his struggle as he caught distemper, even though he was vaccinated.
“On one morning, I woke up to see Franklin had several swelling in his neck and face,” Jason wrote. “I immediately took him to the hospital and over-drafted my account to get him seen by a vet.”
It turned out the sweet little Franklin had developed an abscess in his lymph node that had to be removed surgically. And being Franklin’s family, Jason couldn’t bear seeing his beloved pup suffering a bit.
“Watching him deteriorate in the following days was heartbreaking, and he deserves a chance to live,” Jason wrote.
“He is still a relatively young dog at seven years old, and he has so much more life to live.”
There are currently 125 donors on the GoFunMe page with $2,310 fundraised. Jason also updated the community on Franklin’s health improvement. Finally, Jason showed that Franklin could now go back to the dog parks with a video of relief and excitement.
“I can’t thank the kind folks from the #TrussBus for making this possible,” Jason expressed his gratitude on the April 4 update. “I don’t know how I can ever repay the kindness shown to us and when I’m back on my feet someday will be paying it forward.”
Although Franklin is back to his usual health, he still expects a few follow-up checkups. So please visit the page here if you want to support Jason and Franklin.
