And quite honestly, she did not want to stick around and be involved in any more drama that unfolded. So, she grabbed her purse and just left the dinner on the spot.
Unfortunately, though, the drama was still far from over– because later that evening, she received a furious call from her mother.
Apparently, her mother was absolutely fuming and claimed she had no right to comment on the pregnancy whatsoever. Her mother also said that she should have just congratulated her brother and sister-in-law properly and left it there.
“And that even if my sister-in-law was the one who asked for my opinion, I should have known better than to hurt her with those words,” she vented.
Anyway, after reflecting on the situation, she has come to realize that her words were actually pretty hurtful. So now, she has been left wondering if she took it too far by calling her sister-in-law’s pregnancy a mistake and acting like a real jerk.
Do you think her concerns about her brother and sister-in-law’s pregnancy are valid? Was it wrong of her to be upfront about them after she was pressured to be honest, or should she have held back just to be polite? If you had been in her shoes, how would you have navigated this situation?
