She Saw The Term “Hidden Spy Camera” In Her Boyfriend’s Search History And Confronted Him About It, But He Shared A Story About Researching Spy Cameras With His Friend That Kind Of Sounded Bogus
This woman has been dating a new guy for a couple of months now. And according to her, he is a caring, kind, and funny person.
She does admit that her boyfriend is a bit eccentric. However, nothing about his character or behavior made it seem like he was “off” in any way.
Just the other day, though, something happened that made her totally question who her boyfriend is below the surface.
Apparently, they were just hanging out last week when she and her boyfriend decided they wanted to purchase a random item online together. So, he pulled out his phone and opened up the AliExpress app on it.
Then, right after her boyfriend clicked on the search bar, she saw that the search history had numerous variations of the same disturbing search: “hidden spy camera,” “secret camera,” and “WiFi camera.”
And, of course, seeing that was seriously concerning. So, she decided to take her boyfriend’s phone to double-check what she thought she saw.
More specifically, she typed the first few letters of “hidden spy camera” into the search bar– and yet again, the same variations dropped down in bold below the search bar.
This understandably prompted her to immediately confront her boyfriend about his alarming search history. However, he at first apparently pretended to have no idea what the heck she was talking about.
So, she pointed out the literal search terms that popped up on his phone when she typed in the search bar, but he tried to write that off, too.
“It came up as a suggestion because you typed the first few letters in,” her boyfriend actually said.
And she tried to stay calm at that moment, but she adamantly told him that that simply was not true. Then, finally, the “truth” came out.
Apparently, her boyfriend tried to say that he and his friend had been in on the searches together. According to him, his friend had recently stayed at a hotel and suspected there had been hidden cameras in the room.
So, her boyfriend claimed that he and his friend decided to do some research on hidden cameras to find out what they looked like.
To be honest, though, this sounded even more like a lie to her, and she actually started to kind of freak out.
However, her boyfriend reportedly could not believe that she really thought he was the “kind of person” who would buy hidden cameras, and he started to get super annoyed with her. In fact, she claims to have never seen him so annoyed ever before.
Still, they were stuck in a total stalemate, and her boyfriend was the one who needed to prove his case.
So, eventually, he decided to reach out to his friend on the spot. That way, his friend could tell her that he was not lying.
She stayed silent after her boyfriend suggested that, though, and he apparently just kept going. He even urged her to search his entire room and said that she would not find anything.
Then, he finally texted his friend for “proof”– even though the message frankly sounded pretty suggestive.
“Hey, remember when we were researching spy cams together? Well, my partner saw it, and they think I have hidden cameras. Can you reply so I can prove we talked about them together and I don’t have any cameras?” her boyfriend texted his friend.
Once he sent that message, her boyfriend also complained of being super embarrassed that he had to send a text like that to a friend. However, she claims that her boyfriend actually going through with the message did give her some peace of mind.
“I feel like him texting his friend kind of proves his story because otherwise, he would be outing himself as a total creep,” she explained.
In turn, she now feels kind of bad for jumping to conclusions and accusing her boyfriend of not being who he seems.
It has also since been a few days since that incident. And even though she thinks she believes her boyfriend now, things are still pretty tense between them. Moreover, she does not think he has forgiven her yet.
So, she has been left feeling pretty uneasy about the situation and is now wondering if jumping to the conclusion that her boyfriend was a creep was the rational thing to do or if it just made her a jerk.
If you found the same search terms on your partner’s phone, would you be alarmed, too? Did her boyfriend’s text make it sound like he was telling the truth, or did it sound like he was basically telling his friend what to say? If the hotel room camera story was true, why would he try to lie about it in the first place? If you were in her shoes, would you stay with him after this?
