Her mom fully anticipated that she and her brother would be fine with being completely alone for the majority of the time after having Jake there constantly to keep them company for 6 whole years.
She really is upset to know that her mom will probably resort to dating a ton of guys again and not being in her life at all. Jake is the only parent she feels that she ever had, and her mom just took that (and him) away from her.
When Jake did move out, he made sure to get an apartment with 3 bedrooms in case she and her brother would like to come to stay with him. Not only that, Jake is trying to work something out with her mom, so he can have custody of her and her brother, and he has said that he has no problem taking this to court.
“Jake takes care of us; he’s the one that has been there for us, not mom,” she said. “I know this because my mom comes home screaming at us about it. She and I got into a heated argument over it the other night, ending with her kicking me out and spending the night at Jake’s.”
“She said that if we want to move in with Jake, she’d let us, but she never wants to see us again after that. I discussed it with my brother, and we both want to go that route. She’s my mother, yes, but hasn’t been there for us and only put us in danger.”
She’s left wondering if it would be wrong of her to pick Jake over her mom.
