She has mentioned that she doesn’t feel like talking about money since the death of her mom and dad is so new to her.
She has also tried telling her husband that her brother is in charge of her mom and dad’s finances, and whatever he decides will be equal.
She then turned to saying her brother bought the house that her mom and dad lived in, so she’s not going to even attempt to obtain half of the money that it’s worth.
Regardless of how she replies to her husband, he won’t let go. She believes her husband is all about the money because they don’t exactly make a lot.
Money is tight for them, and if they could get some kind of money as an inheritance from her mom and dad, it would help them immensely.
“I get the impression that my husband is resentful of my brother’s profession,” she added. “In 2021, we gathered at my brother’s house for the holidays, and that was my husband’s first time meeting my family in person.”
“He made an offhand comment about how nice it must be to be rich. We all brushed it off at the time, but recently he’s been making snide remarks about how my brother is a hotshot banker who’s taking advantage of me by “stealing” half of my inheritance.”
“My family grew up poor, and I’m so proud of my brother for being successful in such a high-stress career. Every time my husband makes this type of snide remark, it really sets me off, and we get into an argument about the house and other things.”
Another thing her husband keeps talking about is how they want to have kids soon, and money would make that easier for them.
She wants her husband to stop talking about money, and she wants him to set his expectations realistically; they most likely will not see a big inheritance.
She doesn’t think she is entitled to half of her mom and dad’s house, but if she did get any money from that, she would give it to her brother, as he rightfully purchased the house.
