Despite community members having hope that the search would lead to closure, though, no progress was made yet again. Instead, the effort uncovered nothing but animal bones on the neighbor’s property, and Crystal’s case has remained cold.
Today, the Tymich family has continued searching for Crystal and spreading awareness of her case online– primarily through a Facebook page entitled Missing: Crystal Ann Tymich.
Crystal’s older brother, Michael, had spearheaded this social media effort– searching high and low for his little sister. But, on August 23 of this year, followers of the page were sadly informed that he had passed away.
“Mike dedicated his life to finding his little sister, and not a day went by that he didn’t think about her and hope for her safe return,” one post on the Facebook page read.
“Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers, and continue the search for Crystal in his honor.”
Law enforcement officials have not given up on closing her case, either. There is now a ten thousand dollar reward being offered to anyone with information that leads to Crystal’s safe return or the arrest and conviction of those responsible for her disappearance.
At the time Crystal vanished, she was four feet tall, weighed sixty pounds, and had dark blonde hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing floral print shorts, a pink t-shirt, and tennis shoes that had a mermaid on them. Today, Crystal would be thirty-five years old. If you have any information regarding her disappearance or whereabouts, you are urged to contact the Los Angeles Police Department Missing Persons Unit at (213) 485-4175.
