It’s something she has really been excited to go to, and since Becky also ended up wanting to go to the event, she said she could join her and another friend under one condition.
Her condition to Becky was that she’s on her own. She made it crystal clear to Becky that she’s not signing up to babysit her.
“…I would not look after her tonight, meaning, whatever happens, is on her, and I will not be responsible and will not help her if she decides to get out of control again,” she said.
“I told her that she knows these situations give me anxiety, and especially today (I’m going through a really hard breakup right now), I need her to act like a grown-up and not put me in a situation where I would have to baby her because I just don’t have the mental capacity (and frankly the nerve) to do so.”
Word quickly spread throughout their mutual friends about what she said to Becky, and they pretty much all agree that she’s super mean for abandoning Becky before the event has even begun.
Her friends believe that she should be there to help make sure no guys try to take advantage of Becky, especially since she can act pretty self-destructively.
So essentially, her friends feel that it is her responsibility to help play the role of Becky’s babysitter, but she doesn’t agree with this at all. She feels that it was more responsible of her to confront Becky and her behavior instead of trying to cover it up.
“Also, babysitting her, in my opinion, only teaches her that she does not have to work on her behavior, therefor I am no longer willing to entertain that notion,” she continued. “I know that this is drastic, which is why I’m wondering if I am taking this too far…”
Do you think she was mean to tell Becky she doesn’t want to babysit her anymore?
