His Father-In-Law Would Always Refer To His Culinary Career As “Women’s Work,” So He Never Cooked His In-Laws “Good Food,” And His Father-In-Law Recently Called Him Out On It

This man doesn’t really think of himself as a chef since he may not have gotten the culinary education that other chefs have.

However, he owns his own restaurant and has even been on a few different TV shows as either a guest or a contestant.

So, in other words, he is quite a good cook– regardless of his lack of a “chef” title.

Despite his accomplishments, though, it appears that his in-law’s view of his occupation always has kind of bugged him. Well, specifically his father-in-law’s perspective.

Apparently, his father-in-law is a welder and has made comments in the past about him doing “women’s work.”

Obviously, that’s not okay. But he always just laughed the remarks off despite them really annoying him.

In the past, he has told his wife how much his father-in-law’s comments bug him, too. But, his wife claimed that his father-in-law was just “old school” and told him not to be confrontational about the issue.

Anyway, last summer, his wife’s family had a big family reunion. And for his contribution to the get-together, he decided to bring some bratwurst and onions.

“Good cheap food for lots of people,” he said.

Just this past weekend, though, his parents traveled to visit him and his wife. That day, he also decided to invite his in-laws over because it had been a while since everyone had an opportunity to see each other.

And for dinner that evening, he decided to make a nice dinner. More specifically, he cooked Beef Wellington, a roasted root vegetable medley, bacon-roasted Brussels sprouts, potatoes au gratin, mushroom risotto, and asparagus.

So, by the time he served the meal, his in-laws were blown away. His father-in-law, though, was honestly quite confused.

His father-in-law reportedly asked him why he never cooked like that whenever his wife’s side of the family visited.

Her father-in-law also pointed out how instead, he would always order food, or his wife would cook some hearty home-cooked meals.

And at that point, he decided to tell his father-in-law the truth.

“I said that I did not want to appear feminine in front of him since he thought it was a woman’s work,” he recalled.

Now, his father-in-law was surprised by his response and claimed that he never meant that with his comments.

His father-in-law also suggested that if he knew how to cook that well all along, then he had just been “belittling” his in-laws by only cooking like that for his own family.

Anyway, his in-laws eventually left his home, and his wife was pretty upset about what had happened.

In fact, his wife claimed that he should have either cooked a “less fancy” meal or just ordered out.

But, by not doing either of those things, he got accused of making his father-in-law feel like he was not worth any effort.

So, with his wife still upset about what happened, he has been left wondering whether not making “good food” for his in-laws out of spite makes him a real jerk or not.

Can you believe his father-in-law thought it was okay to make such inappropriate comments in the past? Does his father-in-law deserve any “good food” after being so rude? Why do you think his wife doesn’t stick up for him? If you had been in this situation, what would you have done?
