And she knows that unless she and her boyfriend end up raking in some serious dough, then it will be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to put all four hypothetical kids through college debt-free.
That’s why, in addition to simply being realistic, she also wants to set her boyfriend up with some reasonable expectations.
“I just don’t want him to think if one day we are in this situation that he’s a failure for not making his kids’ life ‘easier,'” she vented.
Ever since her boyfriend got so upset about her opinion, though, she has been left wondering whether not caring if they could afford to send their future children to college actually makes her a jerk or not.
Is now a good time for her and her boyfriend to start discussing their values before they actually bring any children into the picture? Can you understand why her boyfriend wants to financially support his kids’ futures, especially if he was not afforded the same support? At the same time, is her perspective more realistic?
