Thankfully, she did have her grandmother, who was her biggest supporter and would take care of her whenever her parents fell short.
When she was 16, she decided to leave her parents and live with her grandmother. When she told her parents she was leaving, they rolled their eyes but didn’t put up much of a fight for her to stay.
Two years have passed, and she considers herself estranged from her parents. Things changed for her family a few weeks ago when her sister sadly passed away.
“Grandma went to my sister’s funeral, but I did not,” she explained. “After the funeral was over, and I guess once they realized they had nobody, they tried to reach out to me.”
When her parents reached out, she told them they needed to accept that their “only child” was gone and there was nothing they could do for her after 18 years of neglect.
Her parents started to sob and told her she was cruel. They accused her of punishing them while they were trying to get through an unimaginable loss.
Was she too cruel to her parents?
