Thankfully, Daniella had not yet paid for her daughter’s admission pass to the aquarium before Melody left. She still felt really bad the trip was ruined because of her daughter, though, so she decided to send Daniella money for their passes anyway.
But while she thought she handled the whole situation in the best way possible, her husband wound up seriously disagreeing.
Later that night, after he found out what had happened, her husband actually freaked out on her. He accused her of violating their daughter’s autonomy and even claimed it was her fault everything happened.
Quite frankly, though, she believed that was a serious overreaction– especially since he “coddled” Melody and took her out to a father-daughter dinner that evening.
“I feel a valuable lesson was missed yesterday,” she vented.
Still, in the wake of her husband’s accusations, she’s been left wondering whether forcing her daughter to go to the aquarium with Leah was the wrong thing to do.
Can you understand the lesson she was trying to teach her daughter about being nice? At the same time, do you agree that she violated her daughter’s boundaries? How would you have handled this situation? What could she have done better?
