“While I am excited for her, I’m dreading it,” she said. “The two girls are at an age now where it’s gotten a bit easier for me to look after them alone. I can’t imagine having to take care of three.”
She also has a job and won’t be able to help out as much. So, she told Iris it was time to talk to David and get him to help out more.
Iris didn’t see the point in telling David to do better as a father. So when she told Iris that she wouldn’t continue “playing dad” for her kids anymore after seven long years of helping out, Iris got very upset.
Her sister believes David shouldn’t have to help out as much because women are “naturally better” at raising children. Iris said it takes a village to raise a child, and that village is typically comprised of women.
“I said while I’m happy to be her village, I refuse to be a parent to her kids,” she recalled. “She hasn’t spoken to me in a week.”
Is she doing the right thing by stepping away from raising her sister’s kids so their dad can contribute more?
