After taking everything into consideration, he decided that the best option was to sell the beloved home.
The housing market would be in his favor as a seller, and he was going to split the money equally with Ben.
He thought this money would be beneficial for Ben and would allow him to pay off his debts and begin a new chapter.
Ben suggested that he just sell the home to him at a lower price, but he declined because Ben would then have very little money left to cover any renovations or living costs.
He tried to explain to his brother that selling at the high market value would be the smartest choice, leaving them both more financially stable than they had been before. Ben, however, was heartbroken at the thought.
“I tried to explain my perspective, that it was for his own good, but he saw it as being pragmatic at the cost of his feelings. He stopped talking to me, and the rest of our family took his side, saying I was selfish,” he stated.
While he feels guilty that he hurt Ben, he still believes that this was the best choice for everyone involved.
Do you think he made the right decision to sell the house? Do you think he should have come up with another solution that led Ben to fulfill his childhood dream?
